We already know Pokemon Go is crazy popular, but just how popular?
According to an estimate from mobile app analytics firm Sensor Tower, Pokemon Go has already racked up 75 million downloads across iOS and Android. Of note is the fact that Pokemon Go is currently available in just 32 of the more than 100 markets where the App Store and Google Play are available.
On Google Play, Pokemon Go topped 50 million downloads over the weekend after just 19 days in the app store, Sensor Tower says. As for its performance on iOS, Apple recently confirmed that Pokemon Go nabbed more downloads during its first week of availability than any other app in history.
“For most mobile games and apps, even reaching 10 million downloads is a marathon, but Pokemon Go made that and 50 million in a sprint,” Sensor Tower’s Head of Mobile Insights Randy Nelson wrote in a blog post.
No other app has even come close to reaching the 50 million mark that fast. It took another uber-popular game, Color Switch, 77 days to do so, while King’s most recent Candy Crush spin-off, Candy Crush Jelly, Saga, reached that mark in just over three months, thanks in part to a huge marketing campaign.
But can Pokemon Go sustain its early success? That remains to be seen, though a recent report from Survey Monkey suggests interest in the game is already starting to wane.
